The habitat of the photo «Exploring on the dunes» is very cool and seems perfect for Cerastes vipera and Scincus. It is a pity that you didn´t find them. Maybe next time!! I have never been lucky in Merzouga neither…
Too bad you guys didnt’t find any snakes. We had the same problem in May (see our report on this site), with almost no snakes as well despite of lots of (night)searching. Back then it also was quite hot (35-40 deg), so maybe there’s a connection. Fortunately Morocco is still amazing, even without snakes.
