{"id":162,"date":"2011-04-25T12:00:02","date_gmt":"2011-04-25T10:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.moroccoherps.com\/?p=162"},"modified":"2020-01-20T17:43:36","modified_gmt":"2020-01-20T17:43:36","slug":"expedicion-primavera-2011-de-regreso","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.moroccoherps.com\/en\/2011\/04\/25\/expedicion-primavera-2011-de-regreso\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring 2011 expedition: Back to home&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Part of the team has returned with the memory cards full of pictures and videos, while another part continue in Morocco in search of the elusive\u00a0<em>Varanus <\/em>and the mythical\u00a0<em>Echis<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>From the logistics point of view, the trip was from the beginning a complete disaster,\u00a0with one of the cars, a Land\u00a0Rover\u00a0Defender, broken down just as we touched African soil, forcing us to completely rethink the trip and to go towards the SW instead of SE as planned.<\/p>\n<p>However, the bad luck with our vehicles contrasted with the good luck with herpetofauna, despite the setbacks we found and photographed some of the most\u00a0emblematic\u00a0species\u00a0of reptiles\u00a0of Morocco.<\/p>\n<p>Before doing an exhaustive account, to confirm the identifications and waiting for the rest of the team to return, the list of species observed and photographed (alive) can be summarized as follows:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <em>Pelophylax saharicus<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Bufo mauritanicus<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Bufo boulengeri<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Pleurodeles waltl<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Hyla meridionalis<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Discoglossus scovazzi<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Testudo graeca<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Chamaeleo chamaeleon<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Hyalosaurus koellikeri<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Tarentola mauritanica<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Tarentola chazaliae<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Saurodactylus brosseti<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Natrix maura<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Boaedon fuliginosus<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Hemorrhois algirus<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Naja haje legionis<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Bitis arietans<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Chalcides polylepis<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Chalcides sphenopsiformis<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Acanthodactylus maculatus<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Acanthodactylus lineomaculatus<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Acanthodactylus aureus<\/em><\/p>\n<p>To\u00a0this list must be added\u00a0numerous\u00a0citations\u00a0of species\u00a0found\u00a0on the\u00a0roads\u00a0run over, drowned\u00a0in in cisterns, or stoned by local people:\u00a0<em>Dasypeltis sahelensis<\/em>, <em>Scutophis moilensis<\/em>, etc&#8230;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Part of the team has returned with the memory cards full of pictures and videos, while another part continue in Morocco in search of the elusive\u00a0Varanus and the mythical\u00a0Echis.
